Dr. Mao is known for his academic excellence and knowledge in family medicine. His passion for medicine was inspired by Dr. Paul Farmer, who is well known for his humanitarian medical services in rural and resource lacking parts of the world. Dr. Mao's interest in patient care grew immensely through medical school, as he viewed his rotations as building blocks of general knowledge that allowed better practice of family medicine.

Dr. Mao chose to practice medicine at Oak Orchard Health because of the people he met and spoke with within the organization. He believes working for a federal qualified health center requires employees with big hearts and dedication. Dr. Mao believes working for Oak Orchard makes him feel “like I am making a difference for the patients and their families.” He loves spending time with his patients and is a great fit for Oak Orchard with his passion and energy.

Dr. Mao received the Charles Bauda Award for Academic Excellence in Family Medicine when studying at SUNY Buffalo.  He has also accomplished many research studies in the Department of Chemistry and Physics while studying at Hamilton College. Dr. Mao is a member of many professional organizations, and he has participated in multiple volunteering roles.
