Orleans County resident, Betty García Mathewson brings invaluable expertise and insight to her role on the board. As the Director of both the New York State Migrant Technical Assistance and Support Center (Migrant TASC) and the Opening Doors Diversity Project, Betty has led a range workshops and keynotes throughout New York State, nationally and internationally. Most recently, Betty developed and produced the Authentic Voices trilogy of training DVDs and educational resources, which provide a framework for creating the systemic capacity to communicate effectively across language differences.
Oppression theory and social identity development theories form the foundation of the diversity “lens” which is at the core of Betty’s approach. Her primary areas of expertise are social identity development, systems change and interpretation. Betty has a Bachelor of Science in Social Theory Social Structure and Change and a master’s in Organizational Development.
